AprilAire Training Portal
A gated training portal for a national HVAC manufacturer a custom WordPress LMS where field reps learn, track progress, and download the calculator assets they use to size solutions on the job.
AprilAire is a national manufacturer of indoor air quality solutions, and its field reps need to be experts — both on the products and on how to size the right solution for a given job. They needed a private, secure place for those reps to learn, prove they’ve learned it, and grab the practical tools they use in the field. Mediamato built that portal: a gated WordPress training platform with custom LMS tracking and a downloadable resource library.
The challenge
Training a distributed field team is a specific problem. The content has to be locked to authorized reps, not the public. Reps need to actually progress through material — and the company needs to see that progress, not just hope it happened. And the portal isn’t only about learning; reps need to walk away with usable assets — calculators and tools they can pull up on a job to determine the right solution. Off-the-shelf LMS plugins are heavy, generic, and rarely fit a manufacturer’s exact workflow. This needed a purpose-built system.
What I built
A gated training portal. A secure, access-controlled WordPress portal only authorized field reps get in, with the content and downloads kept behind that gate.
Custom LMS tracking. Rather than bolt on a bloated third-party LMS, I built tracking tailored to how AprilAire’s reps actually work through the material so progress is recorded and visible, and the company knows its team is trained.
A downloadable asset library. The practical payoff for reps: a library of calculator assets and tools they can download and use in the field to size solutions and answer customer questions on the spot.
Built to grow into web apps. The calculators start as downloadable assets but the portal is the foundation for turning those same tools into interactive web apps down the road, so reps can eventually run them live inside the platform. The architecture was built with that evolution in mind.
The result
A private, purpose-built training platform that keeps a national field team sharp and equipped learning tracked, tools in hand, all behind a secure gate.
