PR Council

The PR Council is the national trade association for public relations agencies, serving the leaders of 150+ member firms with research, events, member communities, and a firm directory. A membership organization this size runs on its data and that data lives in HubSpot. They needed a website that didn’t just look the part, but stayed in perfect sync with their CRM. Mediamato built the whole system: a custom WordPress site, event booking, and a custom integration that makes HubSpot the single source of truth.

The challenge

An association’s website is only as good as the data behind it. Members, firms, and content are managed in HubSpot so the site couldn’t be a separate island where information drifts out of date. It had to reflect HubSpot automatically: when a member or a piece of content changes there, the site follows, without anyone copying data by hand. On top of that, the site needed paid event booking, gated member areas, and a professional, credible presence worthy of an organization whose tagline is “Lead the Future of Public Relations.” Off-the-shelf plugins don’t solve a bespoke sync problem like that.

What I built

A fully custom WordPress theme. Designed and developed from scratch clean, professional, and accessible to match the Council’s forward-thinking, solutions-oriented brand and present its research, events, and member resources clearly.

A custom HubSpot integration plugin. This is the heart of the project: a bespoke plugin that imports members and content from HubSpot into WordPress and keeps them synced, so HubSpot remains the single source of truth. I built it to run on scheduled, automated imports the site stays current on its own, with no manual data entry and no drift between the CRM and the website.

WooCommerce event booking. The Council runs a full calendar of community meetings, webinars, and conferences. I built event booking on WooCommerce so members can register and pay through a reliable, familiar checkout, tied into the same system.

Accessible, and maintained. Developed to WCAG standards throughout, and backed by an ongoing maintenance agreement — the site stays secure, current, and reliably in sync, with one accountable person keeping the integration healthy over time.

The result

A membership site that runs itself: members and content flow automatically from HubSpot on a schedule, events are booked and paid through WooCommerce, and the whole thing is wrapped in a custom, accessible design maintained long-term. It’s the clearest example of what Controlled AI Integration looks like on a complex build: custom development, real systems integration, e-commerce, accessibility, and ongoing care, delivered and owned by one person accountable for all of it.
